What does the football transfer market in Poland look like ?
Polish football clubs are investing more and more money in the development of football academies in which young players are trained. Such academies operate at most Polish football clubs.
A lot of private football academies are also being established in Poland, which is good business.
Every year more and more Polish players are leaving to foreign football clubs. Foreign transfers account for the vast majority of transfer revenue (92%) in Polish Ekstraklasa.
Domestic transfers – between Polish clubs – account for only 8% of all transfers.
The amounts of the highest foreign transfers, however, are disproportionately higher and exceed the purchasing capacity of Polish clubs. The amounts of the highest transfers of Polish players from Ekstraklasa to foreign football clubs currently reach about EUR 11,000,000.00 (Kacper Kozlowski and Jakub Moder), followed by EUR 10,000,000.00 Jakub Kaminski.
Typically, players aged 18-20 leave Polish clubs to foreign clubs. The average age of all Ekstraklasa players leaving for other clubs in the 2022/23 season was 23,6.
Domestic as well as foreign clubs are interested in young players trained in Polish clubs, and this market will grow faster and faster.
